After Jesus blessed the children
(Who freely came to Christ,
For they were not weighed down
By claims of this life)
A rich young politician,
Who adeptly followed commands,
Eagerly approached Jesus
Wanting to fully understand
If there was something
He could do to merit
A place in heaven
And eternal life inherit
Jesus looked at him
And spoke the truth with love:
Treasures of this world
Don't compare with those above;
He challenged him to sell
All that he possessed
So the poor, by his sacrifice,
Would be cared for and blessed
Christ said, rewards will come
When you, empty-handed, follow
But he was possessed
By his possessions
And found it too hard to swallow;
Unwilling to surrender all,
He walked away in heartache;
Christ's disciples asked Him,
"Who then can be saved?"
With God, all is possible,
If you're willing to leave,
Trusting God's economy
And exponentially
