The people walking in darkness
Have seen a great light
Those living in the depths
Of seemingly-endless night,
Those distressed by gloom
Will be honoured and rejoice
With thanksgiving
And a triumphant voice
For God has come to rescue and save
The oppressed and heavily burdened;
The enemy’s weapons of war
Will be destined for destruction
For unto us a child is born, a Son is given
And He will rule with authority
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace
The greatness of His kingdom
Will be everlasting peace,
Reigning with righteousness and justice
By the Lord Almighty’s zeal
